13 Days with 13 Arts and the Flying Unicorn!

HI everyone and welcome to my blog. The Flying Unicorn and 13 ARTS are teaming up together this month to give you 13 Days of 13 ARTS and today is my turn. 13 ARTS has so many amazing collections and fun mixed media products to play with…and you guessed it…the Flying Unicorn store carries them! For my layout I have used the new Timeless Collection! I adore this collection and all the fun backgrounds and extras to make completing a layout fun and easy. There are also some amazing prizes to be won each day so keep on reading to see how you can win!

 

 

Tip #1

add some COLOR to those metals. 13 ARTS paints and mists are just perfect for that. First use some 13 ARTS gesso as a base and then the options are endless after that. Heat set between layers of colors to get what you want.

 

 

Tip #2

for added texture, add layers of masking and stamping in your background. You do not have to stamp with ink, why not add a bit of paint to some drywall tape and stamp with that for a different look. Why stop with one mask...I have used 2 for added dimension.

The Month of Love **Shimmerz**

Hi everyone...today is my post on the Shimmerz Blog and I have a layout and a card to share featuring lots of yummy Shimmer products! First up is my layout…I will often go to a sketch for inspiration and this time I have used a Sketchabilities sketch. I do not often use mutilple photos on my layouts so this was so much fun to create! My cutie pie grandson! I have used a combination of 7Dots and Prima Vintage Vanity papers.

 

 I have done some masking in the background with Spun Sugar and Licorice Stick Dazzlerz. I also used a wet wipe to dab on some Royal Red Shimmerz paint.

 

Little drops of Royal Red Shimmerz and Gold Glimmer Blingz add some extra color in the background. I then finished it all off with some drips in Hot Fudge Vibez and Mudpie Sprtiz.

 

 

Another Valentines Card…I have used Studio 75 Papers for this one! I have so many now I can not give them all to hubs hehe.

 

Here is a close up. The background has some masking in Gold Mine Texturez and drops and drips of Bubble Gum Shimmerz. The chippy is covered with  Pearly Gates Dimensionz and after everything was dry the whole card got a spray coat of Goldie Lox Shimmeringz…it added a soft gold shimmer to the entire card.

Marion Smith Design Guest Spot

Hi everyone! I can tell you that I squealed with delight when I was asked to do a guest at Marion Smith Designs Blog today!! Sighs……I love Marion Smith Designs! I have a few projects to share with you today. First up is a new mixed media layout I have created with the yummy Mad Tea Party Collection.

 

I tend to scrap in the girly grungy style with a bit of shabby in there by adding some pretty trims and flowers.

 

I usually save my bits and pieces from previous projects and here you can see I have used strips of the collection papers in the background.

 

All of the little tags and fussy cut pieces make it so easy to tuck in here and there and complete your projects.

 

Here are two oversize tags that I have created with this collection. They are perfect to add to bottles of wine or gifts.

 

 

I fell in love with the Nirvana Collection the second I saw it…..the earthy tones and the pops of color. This layout has layers and layers of all the fun pieces in this collection!

Here is one more Nirvana layout. I had so much fun with this one and I even fussy cut the chevron pieces from the collection papers.

Lastly I have a tag created with the Nirvana Collection. Look at all of those darling little collection pieces to add in!

Mixed Media Tag **WCYDW - Flying Unicorn**

Hi everyone and happy What Can You Do Wednesday from the Flying Unicorn…Today I am going to share a tag that has a mixed media background. I will show you step by step my process.

 

1. I have used a Prima Tag and some left over Vintage Vanity papers from the Jan Kit.

 

2. Tear some strips and add to the tag.

 

3. now use an old credit card and cover the entire card with gesso. The strips have started to create your background and by using gesso you now can get some cool effects with mists, paints etc. Heat set.

 

4. Add some stamping and with a baby wipe dab on some gesso to soften the stamping.

 

5. Add a few more strips of torn paper and dab with gesso. Heat set.

 

6. Add some Shimmerz Seafoam Spritz for color and use that baby wipe to dab and blend in the color.

 

7. I now add some drips and splats with a paint brush and some Shimmerz Hot Fudge Vibez mist. Heat set.

 

8. A bit of masking always looks nice…I have used some 13 Arts molding paste and some Shimmerz Patina Texturez.

 

9. Do a bit of stamping with some drywall tape and gesso than add that drywall tape to your layout.

 

10. A few more drips. Heat set.

 

11. Now pick out your embellishments and add to your tag.

 

 

Here is the finished tag all ready to be added to a little gift for someone special.

Your Art Your Passion **Flying Unicorn Feb Kit part 3**

Hi everyone ! I am back today with more creations with the Flying Unicorn Feb Kit of the Month! First I have a card that I have made for hubs for Valentines Day!

 

 

Love all the stamps, metals and quotes in this kit!

 

 

 

The Off The Page item in this months kit is a very large heart box and this is perfect to fill with goodies for someone special. I have used Prima Vintage Vanity papers and lots of Shimmerz to finish this off.

 

 

 

I have done some masking in the background with a crackle Prima stencil and some Shimmerz Dazzlerz.

 

The chippys are finished with some Shimmerz Dimentionz and look at that yummy Metal Adornment key from the Flying Unicorn!

 

 

Some Prima flowers, metals and Shimmerz Gold Blingz to finish it all off.
