Mixed Media Card - Creative Embellishments - Flying Unicorn Jan Kit

Hi everyone! Today I have a fun mixed media Birthday card to share. It also feature lots of goodies from the Flying Unicorn Jan kits! Lots of layers of papers, chippys, and embellishments!

 

 

The sentiment is from the Birthday Word Set. I just love all the word sets for Layout titles and cards and tags…there are so many to choose from!

 

Behind the flowers is a piece from the Square Mini Frames. I find I use these a lot on cards and tags..they just add so much dimention to your project. And look at that super cute balloon chippy from the Heart Balloon Set!

Shimmerz Texture with Shona

Hello Shimmerz fans! Well it is that time of year…its winter here in Canada and its cold and snowy. So what better fun for me than to stay indoors where it is toasty warm and play with some yummy Shimmerz products, hehe! Today I have a layout to share with lots of added Shimmerz color. I love to add layers of colors and different Shimmerz products on the background. This adds dimension without making your finished layout too thick to put into albums. All of my layouts go into albums.

 

 

I did lots of masking in the background with Dazzlerz in Tutti Fruitti, Spun Sugar and Coral Me Crazy. This added so much texture and Shimmerz in the background.

 

 

After all the embellishments were on the layout I painted on Inklingz, add a bit of water and move the color around. This added some nice shadows of color behind all the clusters.

 

 

Inklingz in Pink a Boo, Sun Kissed, Ruby Lost Her Slippers and Purple.

 

 

Lastly all the Creative Embellishments chippys are finished with a coat of gesso and some Spotlight White Inklingz.

Always Together - Shimmerz

Hello Shimmerz Fans and Happy New Year to you all! Today I have a fun mixed media layout to share…I love the light background and the vibrant Shimmerz colors added to it! I used the Flying Unicorn Jan kit and added in some extra Pataloo Blooms and yummy Shimmerz to create this...it is like the blooms and Shimmerz were made for each other on this one!

 

 

 

I first added the Well Blue Me Down Coloringz around all of the clusters. Adding a wee bit of water and moved the mist with a paint brush.

 

 

I also painted on some Blue Lagoon Inklinkz and blended that in with the Colorings…for different shades of color.

 

 

The chippy pieces and metal butterfly are finished off with some Spotlight White Inklingz.

 

 

To finish it all off I added drops and splats of Keylime and Black Shimmerz paints. Just add to your paintbrush and flick it. I also added in some flicks of the Blue Lagoon Inklingz.

Together - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! Today I have a layout to share with lots of yummy CE chippys on it! I made this layout for my niece.

 

I tucked in a large clock face in behind the photo. I also tucked in pieces from the Flourish Set 10. They are finished with some Shimmerz Black Dimentionz…it has some nice texture on it.

 

Have you seen the NEW work border sets yet? I LOVE them all…this title piece is from the Family Word Border Set…I finished it with gesso and some sparkling Shimmerz Inklingz.

Water Color Look - Flying Unicorn January KOM

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about layouts with that “water color” look on the background. It is super easy to do. I did not take pictues of the steps but I will explain with each close up.

 

Here is a layout I created with the gorgeous January kits from the Flying Unicorn. The kit comes with a Clear Gesso from 13 ARTS. Just apply a thin layer of clear gesso on your background paper, use a sponge or paintbrush. Heat set or let this air dry. Once dry I added my stamping and masking and heat set that.

 

After all of your layers and photo are in place I used some Shimmerz Inklingz and just painted it on the background…one color at a time and add some spritz of water to make the Inklingz pool. I actually add quite a bit of water at this point. You can also use mists for this part, and spritz with water also.  Heat set after each color and move the water with the paints around, with your heat tool.

 

Add the next color and do the same steps as above. You can add as many colors as you like…just dry between colors. Adding the first layer of clear gesso allows the mists or paints to just pool on top of the background paper. If you did not the color would just soak into the background page and you would not get this cool water color look. Another little tip. If you have already adhered your photo to the project just make sure to cover it up with some scrap paper or something so that it does not get sprayed with water. Hi everyone! Well it is 2016 now and time to get creative! I have a layout to share from the Flying Unicorn January Your Passion Your Art KOM. I just love the softness of the 13 ARTS papers in the kit and you can spice them up with some added colors of mists or paints!

 

The kit has lots of fun chippys, metals, stencils and more gorgeous embellishments in it.

Wintertime - Creative Embellishments Jan Challenge

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! Wow 2016 already..boy did last year go by fast. They seem to all go by fast now eeeek LOL! New month means a NEW Challenge at Creative Embellishments. This months inspiration photo is a beauty and the only required element is to be inspired by it and use a circle in your creation to be eligible for a fabulous Chipppy Prize! I have used the snowflakes and colors as inspiration to scrap this layout of my sweet boy Olaf. The papers are from Riddersholm and flowers are Petaloo, all available at the Flying Unicorn store.

 

 

 

I have used pieces from the Snowflake frame and Snowflake chippys. The chippys are all just covered in Gesso and I added some beads to them.

 

 

I adore the stamps at CE and this is the Grunge SnowflakeStamp.

Flying Unicorn January Your Passion Your Art KOM

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! It is reveal day for the gorgeous Flying Unicorn January Your Passion Your Art KOM. The kits are just jam packed with lots of gorgeous things to play with. Today I am going to share a layout I created with the kit. Two of my great nieces…such cutie pies! The new 13 ARTS collection in the kit is beautiful and perfect for this photo.

 

There are a couple of fun new stencils and lots of chippys and stickers in the kit. And looks at the gorgeous Petaloo blooms!...yummy!

Each month the main kit comes with a fun Off The Page project to play with. This month there is a wooden case and coaster set. I used the kit papers to cover the case. I also added more of the yummy Petaloo blooms on the case.

 

 

For the coasters I covered them with tissue paper first. I than added some crackle and Shimmerz mists. Once that was all dry I did a thin layer of masking on them and sealed it all with a sealer spray. They are almost like a tile now and ready to use.
