Together Again

Hi Everyone and welcome to my blog. I started my Christmas shopping today…FUN!! I make a lot of my gifts but I still have to buy some. I came up with a fantastic idea today for making little gifts…I will try it out soon and post it.

OK so on to this layout! I used the sketch from Once Upon a Sketch, lots of new Prima Printery goodies and a few others from my stash. The theme of this layout is…to journal something that you remember for all the wrong reasons. Well this is a photo of my sister and her two kids. It is my sister’s birthday. We do not get to see each other much as we all live far apart…and this was a very special day. All of my brothers and sisters were there to celebrate her birthday, as well as many other family members. But that is not why we were there, it was not to celebrate her birthday, that was just a bonus. We were there to lay my dad’s ashes so that he was with my mom again. Together Again! So this truly was a day of many memories…and was so wonderful to have so much family there to celebrate it with. Ok so on with the sketch and my take on it.

I used lots of layers on this layout, and lots of distressing and inking. In this corner you can see a piece of Dusty Attic with the flowers. I first painted it, then I inked the edges, stamped it and used some crackle paint on it.

There is another DA piece beside the large flower cluster. The big grey flower is from Angelica’s etsy.

Last close up is of the journaling section. When I ordered this collection from sb.com..I also ordered a book of Prima Ledger 12x12 papers. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. On this layout I have used it on the back page and it matches great.

Ok well that is it for today. I will be back in a couple days with this months Sneak Peek from Scrap That! This is totally my fav Scrap That! kit to date!  Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic weekend.  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

You Are My Sunshine **TCR**

TGIF!!! Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. I have some exciting news to reveal today. I have been asked to be a RDA for the next four palette releases at The Color Room…I am pumped and just so thrilled that they asked me. **Internet Scream!!!** I love playing there weekly and the palettes are always just so amazing! For TCR #81 palette it is based on His Room..and these colors are just gorgeous together. I created my layout with Prima papers and goodies and few pieces of Dusty Attic. I also used the BAP sketch this month. The photo is my daughter and grandson when I went to visit over Thanksgiving weekend. They just moved by the ocean and this was his first time down to the shoreline close to their house.

I distressed the outside paper and fussy cut the inside one from a template I have. I inked the edges and added a few layers of goodies and of course one of my favs…DA chicken wire J

This is my new Martha Stewart punch…love it! I added a DA border on top of it and some Prima swirls.

For the big flower cluster I used all Prima flowers, the gorgeous DA ferns, some other goodies and I tucked in some gauze for texture.

Here is another close up of the cluster and you can also see some masking on the card stock behind the photo.

Ok well that is it for today. If you want tonnes of inspiration come on by TCR, each week there is a new gorgeous palette to play with. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic weekend.  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Love to Play all Day Long *SOUS*

TGIF!!!!! Seriously TGIF! Haha…was a very long week for me. As some of you know I have injured myself but I am slowly getting better with therapy. Since sitting is the worst, I have not been scrapping near as much as I usually do….sighs….but I can still do it for short periods of time.  Ok so on with my layout….it is reveal day at Stuck on U Sketches and this weeks sketch was designed by Designer/co-creator Leah  Schaeffer. There is really so much you can do with this sketch and I am sure I will use it again. I used papers from My Minds Eye and a photo of my cutie pie grandson. I actually framed this and gave it to my daughter last weekend…she loves it!

In the top left you can see the masked clock that I did as well as all the distressed edges and inking. I love the mask and think it adds dimension to this layout.

I made all of the rosette flowers and tucked in a lace doily and some ZVA Creative pearls. I love the little envelope tucked in behind the photo.

I added some corner pieces from Dusty Attic to finish off the layout.

Today I’m going to share with you my projects using the Scrap That! “Bella Rosa” Kit.  This kit is so YUMMY and the embellishments go perfectly with the gorgeous papers. I used the kit sketch and only the main kit ingredients on my first layout “lovely”. The photo is my niece and great niece. This layout was created for one of the monthly Challenges going on at Scrap That! So make sure you stop on by there and join in on the fun. More chances to win some yummy goodies!!!

I used the Glubers that come in the kit and made the lacy flower…they are SO much fun to use! Yepp I ordered more J Our own Robin posted a video tutorial on how to make a Gluber flower! Just click on the VIDEO link on the top navigation bar on our NING site. The Dusty Attic sweet pea border also comes in the kit and I have put up a tutorial in the Scrap That! forums, on how I altered it.

I used lots of liquid pearls to accent all the layers and painted on bits of gesso on the papers.

TIP: to soften a bold background, try painting on some gesso. I did not use much on this layout as I wanted it to be bold still.

For my next layout, “LOVE” I did some distressing, masking, fussy cutting and used lots of layers. I used the September Prima BAP Sketch for this layout.

Here are some close ups. I love the flower clusters mixed with the Prima gems.

“Diva” ..I just love this photo of my grand daughter. This layout was so much fun to make. I used a Prima brick mask and some gesso on it for a soft look. The stamping under the photo is a LaBlanche stamp. They are just so gorgeous! The mask is from Tim Holtz and I masked over the gesso with inks and mists.  I used this week’s palette from The Color Room for this one.

The rolled flower is another one done with the Glubers and some silk material from my stash. You are going to love them they are so easy to make! I just love the new DA leaves and added them to this layout too!  I also made the bigger pink flowers.

Some close ups. The doily I bought at the church thrift shop, washed them up and they are perfect for layouts. The gem swirl is from ZVA and the butterflies are punched out and inked with a gem in the center.

Sweet Pea Chippy Tutorial

Hi everyone, today I have a chippy tutorial for you. It may have bits and pieces from tuts I have seen but this is the finish that I have come up with and I have put my own little touches on it. I have used the Dusty Attic Sweet Pea Border chippy that is included in the October “Bella Rosa” Scrap That! kit.

Supplies Needed

Dusty Attic Sweet Pea Border
White acrylic paint
Glimmer mist
Liquid pearls
Chalk inks
Stickles

Step one: apply a good coat of the white acrylic paint as a base on the chip board.

Step two: after the paint has dried apply a coat of glimmer mist and let dry.

Step three: I now used 2 colors of chalk inks and just dabbed it on the chipboard.

Step four: add liquid pearls to the flower centers.

Step five: I added some stickles to the flower petals and that is it.

This is a super fast way to alter a chippy and you can use any colors to match your layout. Here is the finished chippy on a layout.

Ok well that is it for today. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic week. Don’t forget to come back on Friday for the Scrap That! “Bella Rosa” Blog Hop reveal and your chances to win lots of prizes!  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Just Chillin *TCR*

Happy Sunday everyone! Well I have had a huge injury that I have had to deal with now for a week..I threw both hips out moving a picnic table..GRRR. BUT I am finally starting to feel better so I was able to do a bit of scrapping this weekend J I made this layout using this week’s palette at TCR. I did some masking with gesso, then the brick mask over top of it with inks. The photo is my son and grand daughter..just chillin! I have used some of the new BoBunny and Prima papers for this layout.

In this close up you can see the masking done with gesso. I used a script mask and just applied the gesso to it, and under the photo is a gate mask done the same. When it dries it leaves a raised impression on the paper. I then used a brick mask with inks on top of the scripted areas. The butterflies are punched from some of my dad’s old piano music and the flowers and swirl are from ZVA Creative. I made the pink and white flowers to coordinate with the palette and tucked them in. You can see on the photo that I have used a scrapper around the edges of it.

In this corner there is more flowers and swirls and of the Dusty Attic leaves. I first painted the leaves white, than applied a few different glimmer mists to get the right colors. I have tucked in pieces of a doily in sections as well.

Close up of the title section and I tucked in another piece of DA border and one of all the layers and distressing.

Ok well that is it for today. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic week. I will be back on Tuesday with our October kit sneak peeks from Scrap That! Reveal day is Friday Oct 7th and during the BLOG HOP we are going to have lots of goodies to give away. so make sure to mark you calendar.  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping !!
