Mixed Media Challenge - Flying Unicorn

Hi everyone! I am hosting the March Mid Month Mixed Media Challenge at the Flying Unicorn and here is my project. You can do journal pages, tags, cards, canvas’s…what ever you like as this is a free for all mixed media challenge. Just make sure to share what techniques you have used on your projects!

 

My project a canvas and here are the steps I did creating it. 

 

First I covered my canvas in Gesso and when that dried I added some lace fabric pieces with some Soft Gel. I also added some Finnabair Texture Paste in a few spots…put it on quite thick and let that air dry to get some nice cracks. The lace is just from an old tablecloth I cut up.

 

Add some masking with a 13 ARTS mask and some Golden Molding paste.

 

I pre painted a few flowers and Creative Embellishments pieces with gesso and added to the canvas.

 

Start added some color with some Shimmerz mists. I added water to keep this part not too dark.

 

Do some dry brushing with gesso over the embellishments. I also did it over the masking to make it pop more on the canvas.

 

Add brighter colors of Shimmerz mists.

XO Canvas with Shimmerz

Hello everyone! I am up on the Shimmerz blog today with a canvas I have created with some of my favourite Shimmerz colors! After I have adheared all of my pieces on the canvas and applied a coat of gesso it was time to add some color with Shimmerz.

 

 

 

The background is a combination of Coloringz in Well Blue Me Down, Oh Say Can U Sea and Don’t Be Suede. I just love these three in combo!

The Flying Unicorn metal adornments and flowers all have touches of Spotlight White and Brass Knuckles Inklingz on them. The Inklingz are full of Shimmer!

HOPE - Creative Embellishments

Hello everyone!  Today I am up on the Creative Embellishment Blog and I have a fun layout to share….and that is me…that is rare for me to actually scrap a photo of just me! I used Marion Smith Garment Collection from the Flying Unicorn store.

 

 

I left the chippys naked for this one…I love the natural color of them and sometimes they do not require anything on them! The title is from the Dream Word Set. These title word sets are amazing and there are a few in each pack. Check them out in the store!

 

 

The photo is framed with the NEW Large Clock Face. Sorry my photo of that does not show you the detail on this fabulous new chippy. I have also used the Distressed Text Stamp here and there on the background.

 

One more close up. I have used lots of Shimmerz on the background and embellishments and metals from the Flying Unicorn store.

Flying Unicorn Your Passion Your Art Canvas with Shimmerz

Today I have my Off the Page Project from my Flying Unicorn March Your Passion Your Art kit…it’s the cute little metal bike. I was stumped on what to do with it so I decided to add it to a canvas full of Shimmerz Color! So first thing I did was to add my background flowers and give them a coat of gesso. Next up was the stamping and then its time to play with COLOR!

 

 

The Eiffle tower from the kit, is finished with some Before Dawn Vibez. The background is a mix of Peachy Keehn Coloringz, Pop Art Pink and Sunset Strip Vibez, and Tuscan Sun Spritz. These colors are vibrant and full of color for my background.

 

 

I added in some Good as Gold and Sun Kissed Inklingz to add some extra Shimmer to the flowers. I also added some of the new Creameez in Great Fruit and Get Glowing! The names are all so cute!

 

 

Finish it all off with drops and splashes of Before Dawn Vibez. This canvas is full of color and just reminds me of Spring time.

Believe Canvas - Creative Embellishments and Flying Unicorn March kit

Hi everyone! I am up on the Creative Embellishments Blog today and I have a  mixed media canvas to share. I created it with the Flying Unicorn March kit and added in lots of NEW Creative Embellishments chippys! I  had super fun creating this!

 

I used the Large Clock Face chippys and cut it into two pieces…bottom left corner has the small piece and top right has the larger clock piece. The chippys word is from the Inspire Word Set.

 

The March Flying Unicorn kit comes with all these fabulous resin pieces and metals that I added to this canvas too. The resin feathers are so yummy!

 

On the top of the canvas I added the new Stemapunk Heart andWings. All of the chippys are finished with a coat of Gesso and than some Shimmerz paints. I used 2 of the NEW Shimmerz Tonez Sets in Ocean and Gold for the background also.

Smile - Creative Embellishments March Challenge

Hi everyone! Happy March means a new Challenge is up today at Creative Embellishmnets! For this months challenge I created a layout inspired by the flourishes and leaves in the photo. Reminds me of Spring also and I love this warm photo of me and my daughter and grandson…reminds me of sun and spring weather.

 

 

 

I have used a Flourish from Flourish Set 17, one of the NEW gorgeous hearts from the Distressed Heart Set and my title is from the HappyWord Set. I hope you all join along and play with us this month! All of the chippys are finished with a coat of gesso and some Shimmerz mist.
