Flying Unicorn October Your Passion Your Art KOM part 1

Hi everyone! Today I have a couple of projects to share from the Flying Unicorn October kit of the month.  The mixed media kit comes with this awesome black canvas and I got this idea from Pinterest to use my grandsons feet to make the ghosts. It’s really a cute idea and they had fun helping Nana make this project. They took it home to keep with them and to hang up at Halloween. A great keepsake for mom!

 

I used gesso on their feet to make the ghost shapes. I added some Shimmerz Dazzlers masking in the background for extra fun!

 

Even Olaf got in on picture taking day…he is a character that one!

 

Each month the Main kit comes with an awesome off the page project…this months is a coffin…so I kept on with the Halloween theme.

 

I finished it with some Authentique Thrilling papers from the Flying Unicorn store…added some Shimmerz Dazzlerz masking and some Creative Embellishments Halloween chippys. Love the two scary guys I got at the dollar store. It’s a super cute Halloween decoration!

Meet Olaf - Mixed Media Layout with Shimmerz and Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone and happy Friday to you all! Today I have a layout to share featuring lots of Creative Embellishments Chippys and Shimmerz Products. Meet Olaf…my new puppy. He is just such a cutie pie and I am sure I will be scrapping him lots in the future. I just adore the Ivy Wreath chippy and I have used it to frame the photo of Olaf. The papers are from 7 Dots and available at the Flying Unicorn store!

 

Here is a close up on the wreath. I have altered it with a coat of gesso and while it was wet I added some Shimmerz Truffle Spritz to it….AND one of my new favs from Creative Embellishments is their distressed stamps. In the background you can see the Distressed Chevron Stamp…LOVE IT!

 

 

My background has some little splats and splashes of Shimmerz Inklingz in Brass Knuckles...I have also painted the edges of the layout with it. Behind the photo I added some Bamboo Leaf Spritz and Blue my Mind Inklingz...I love the olive tones!

 

To finish off my layout I added a title from the Social HashTags collection. It is finished with gesso and Shimmerz as well.

Card and Tag set with Creative Embellishments and Heartfelt Creations

Hi everyone! Creative Embellishments and Heartfelt Creation have teamed up this month and I have used the gorgeous Heartfelt Creations Celebrate the Journey Paper Collection to create a card and tag set. I adore their paper collections and they were perfect for my project. I added in some Creative Embellishments Steampunk and Photo/Page Corner sets to finish them off and look at that gorgeous Flourish Dragonfly…a new fav for me!

Playdate Thursday with the Flying Unicorn - Mixed Media Journal pages.

Hi everyone! It is Playdate Thursday at the Flying Unicorn and I have some journal pages to share with you. Journals are perfect for practicing new techniques that you see. I want to demonstrate layers on a journal page. I love layers! Layers with pretty papers, mists and paints, stamping and of course masking. I have started with my Finnabair Mixed Mediajournal and some Prima Vintage Vanity Paper Pad sheets. One sheet cut in half for the background and two torn pieces from another sheet on the insides. Adhere to your journal.

 

I added some pieces of Washi tape from previous kits.

 

Next I brought out a Prima mask and some Golden Moldingpaste.

 

Add some Shimmerz Mists and heat set. The layers are coming along nicely!

 

Lets add more Masking with a 13ARTS mask and some Golden Molding paste.

 

Another fabulous layer to add is stamping…use some various stamps on your project. Here I added the photo and some May Arts Trims. I love the new Paper Cord and the Mini Rafia bows on wired string…so much fun to play with and they come in so many yummy colors!

 

One of my final layers is to add some CreativeEmbellishments chipboard pieces. The Flying Unicorn store has a fabulous variety to chose from and the price is amazing on these chippys!

 

Here are my finished Journal pages and a couple of close ups. My final layer was to add a few trinkets, touches of gesso and some Shimmerz splats. Have a great week everyone!
