Every year in the month of November, Flying Unicorn sponsors "Flying Unicorn Gives Back." This year, we've chosen a nationally recognized charity, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.

For each project that is uploaded to our forum gallery, Flying Unicorn donates $1.00 to a maximum of $1,000 and. we've always reached our goal. With your help this year we will again.! Flying Unicorn also donates 5% of all sales during the month of November to the charity. Finally, do not forget to mark your calendars for our Silent Auction November 8th - November 16th .

We have set up the Flying Unicorn page on the Best Friends site where monetary donations can be made as well to help us reach this years goal of $3000.00 in charitable donations.

Best Friends' mission of No More Homeless Pets tries to place dogs and cats who are considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Since its inception, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year. There has been much progress,but there is still much more to do. Best Friends made national headlines with their intensive efforts in rescuing so many animals in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina..

In honor of Best Friends, and the November Kit of the Month -Hear'ts Twilight - I would like to share with you the extra special project I made using the Kit of the month : My cutie pie grand daughter at pony class this summer. She adores animals and has so many already to love and care for everyday. Animals are such a special friend and companion to have in our lives and I love this charity!

Just look at all the gorgeous flowers in the November kit and flower add on!

The kit also has all these cute little embellishments, masks and 3 bottles of Shimmerz mists! YUMMY!

Leaky Shed Chippys and the Flying Unicorn

 Hello everyone!! Fellow Flying Unicorn Creative team member Tammy and myself will be taking you to Leaky Shed land today. These are some gorgeous chippies and super fun to play with and alter or not. They look simple amazing either way you go. No right or wrong way to use them. One of my fave things about these chippies is no digging them out of any chipboard surroundings. They come ready to go! The quality of the chipboard is amazing too! Nice and thick not flimsy at all. Detail well.. Let us just show you! I made a tag with some of mine. Here it is..

The oval frame was done with some Stampendous embossing enamel in "Shabby Blue". Oh and the Julie Nutting girl well guess what?! That is a Leaky Shed chippie!!! Yes I have used Shimmerz Textures and Dazzlers in The Spun Sugar and Patina. I also used some TH distress stain in "picket fence" as a base for everything I wanted to go on top. I don't loose any of the detail from the design in the chippie when I do us the distress stain. Then fine tuned the colors with a little bit of ink and Smooch pearlized ink. Just to add a little deeper detail. All the pattern paper is the new Websters Pages "Postcards from Paris II" The one that I used on this tag was the "Tres Belle".Super fun tag!! LOVE THESE CHIPPIES! Just had to say that.. But then again if I was a little quieter about it there would be more left for me! Hahaha  Just kidding I will share.. Beat ya to the store! LOL

Next up Shona delivering you some of her AMAZING work!! Hugs for now! Hi everyone...Shona now LOL! I have a layout to share that I have created with these gorgeous chippys! I have used the oval frames, a corner swirl and the gears and yes mine are all naked chippys! Sometimes you just have to leave them naked, hehe.

 

 

I have used Marion Smith Designs Nirvana Collection. This is my cutie pie grandson at the pumpkin patch by the way...he is too cute! There are some Leaky Shed gear chippys tucked into all the Petaloo flowers and leaves....LOVE those Petaloo leaves too!

 

Here is a shot of the oval frame, and a corner swirl...all I added to them was some Pearl drops.

NEW Dimensionz and Altering some metals **CT Flying Unicorn and Shimmerz**

Hi everyone…I am here today with a tip on how to alter some metals with your Shimmerz! .  Have you seen all the new Shimmerz paints in the Flying Unicorn store? They are so vibrant and amazing! Here I painted some on my Flying Unicorn Adornment metal pieces and heat set them until they bubbled some. I also heat set between colors....YUMMY!

Here is the finished tag all ready to be added to a little gift for someone special. For this tag I have used some Marion Smith Designs Mad Tea Party Collection papers, Shimmerz paints, and Leaky Shed Studio chippys! The Flying Unicorn store has just loaded up with all these new goodies! 

 

I love how I only embossed sections of the chippys and look at that gorgeous metal heart now. Wow what a tiny bit of paint will do!

Altering my metals with some Shimmerz is just so much fun..and I think it adds my personal little touch to this tag!

 

Also watch for the release on Oct 22nd of these new Shimmerz Dimensionz! They are just amazing and so much fun!!!!! They are thick and highly pigmented. I have used the NEW Blueberry Hill Dimensionz to finish the butterfly chippys. I painted it on and heat set them until they bubbled...such yummy added textrure when you heat set it! Just look at that vibrant color!

Shimmerz and NEW DIMENSIONZ!!!

Hi everyone! Shimmerz has some super exicting news!!! NEW DIMENSIONZ will be released tomorrow! It is thick, highly pigmented and comes in a bottle….FUN!

 

There are 12 gorgeous vibrant colors too!

 

Release is Tuesday October 22^nd….yippeee tomorrow!

Enjoy **CT Flying Unicorn**

Hi everyone and Happy Friday to you all! The Flying Unicorn has been loading the store with soooo many new goodies and I made this layout with a few of them. This is my daughter and grandson while we were at a pumpkin patch last weekend…so much fun! I have used Marion Smith Designs NEW Nirvana collection for this layout. Seriously such a yummy collection!

 

I also have used some NEW Leaky Shed Studio chippys for this layout. The fancy piece behind the photo is a big chipboard piece that is covered with the collection papers. The masking is done with some Shimmerz Dazzlerz…I love the shimmer!

 

The Oval Frame chippys are also from Leaky Shed…so intricate, they are amazing! I have finished them with some Shimmerz paints. I also added some Shimmerz paints to the Flying Unicorn Metal Adornments and tucked them into the flower clusters. They look like little leaves!

Hello Shimmerz Fans! It is that time of year that I like to have a few cards and tags on hand…and I love to add a little bit of mixed media to them. That is my special touch on them!. First up I have a cute celebration card. I have added a wee bit of masking in the background with some Dazzlerz and a few drops of some Spritz. The bird chippy is finished with some gesso and a spray of Truffle Spritz.

My favourite part of this card is the metal pieces.  All I did was paint them with some Magenta and Orange Sherbert Shimmerz, heat set and make them bubble a bit…so yummy!

Next I have a Winter Wishes card. It is a collage card of bits and pieces in the background.

I added some drips of Mama Sings the Blues Coloringz and touches of Patina Texturez.

This little card is super cute and I love odd shaped cards!

I added some masking in the background with some Spun Sugar Dazzlerz and a few drips of Mon Shari Coloringz.

Tags are also so much fun to make and perfect on if you have a wine gift.

Wild At Heart **Fabscraps**

Hi everyone and Happy Hump Day!  Today I have a layout to share and I have used the New Fabscraps Wild at Heart Collection. This collection is just sooo much fun and the colors are truly amazing! The photo is my cutie pie grandson and I thought that the colored pic added some nice contrast to the collection blues.

 

The chippy and tags are from the collection also. And look at those cute adorable Fabscraps Metal pieces….love those!

 I used lots of Shimmerz mists in the background and did lots of stamping.
