Huggs and The Best of Times

Happy Sunday and welcome to my blog. This layout I made for a challenge over at Swirlydoos.  The photo is of two of my grandkids at Christmas, they were so cute. The challenge is to use odd number of things on the layout, such as I made 7 flowers, I used 9 layers of paper and I machine stitched 11 lines and so on. What a fun challenge. I used my Swirlydoos Curio kit for this layout. That kit is almost gone and I had so much fun with it. The papers were sooo gorgeous to work with.
I did a lot of planning on this layout because I wanted to sew on it. I did machine stitching on pretty much every layer. I also distressed most of the layers. In this close up you can see the flowers that I made. The orange flowers are a great tutorial at Swirlydoos and I made the cute little fan flowers as well. I tucked in some green bloomers with the flowers and added some Prima leaves. Behind the cluster of flowers and in the corners and along the bottom I did some stamping. I just found a Tim Holtz stamp collection that I forgotten I had bought before Christmas. That was a bonus to find that. The butterfly is from Reflections and I added some gems in the corner.

In this close up you can see the swirls that I made with liquid pearls and in the center of one I added a Prima gem. The chippy letters I did some stamping on them with Distress ink and added a little fan flower in the top corner. This was a fun challenge and I love the way the layout turned out.

For my second layout this one was just done for fun for me. I had a need to do some water distressing hehe. The photo is me and my two sister in laws and me in Vegas last fall. I am the one on the right with the glasses on. We were in a lounge listening to this awesome band and having fun dancing and drinking.  I made all the flowers on this layout and used some bright colored papers from my stash. The doily I misted with two different colors of Smooch. The chippys swirls I first painted with acrylics and then added some stickles to them.
There are 3 different types of flowers here, the big fan flower I used a paper doily and a Prima gem in the center of it. The turquoise flowers are from a tutorial at Swirlydoos and the the other 5 flowers I used a water distressed technique to make them and then added some stickles or crystals to them. I added in some stemons with the flowers and a twig vine at the bottom.
In this close up is the fan flower section and you can really see the water distressing and inking that I did.
I printed out some butterflies, added some stickles and gems to them. In the bottom corner I added a bow with a big gem in the center of it.
Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek and I hope that  your week is fantastic! Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J
