Happy Thanksgiving BAP with the Flying Unicorn

Hi everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends out there!  While the boys in the house are watching some football on TV, grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit back and enjoy a Build a Page tutorial featuring the NEW 7 DOTS Thoughts Keeper collection and lots of other goodies from the Flying Unicorn store. Ok lets get started!

 

Select your two pieces of paper to use…trim one down to 11 x 11 and keep those cut off pieces for later on.

 

I took a couple of punches and did around the top sheet of paper. After that was done I inked the edges of both with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink.

 

Next I applied some gesso to an old brick stamp in my collection and did some stamping with the gesso.

 

Have you seen the NEW yummy Shimmerz Coloringz in the store….the new colors are all so amazing! Lets use a couple and add some color to this background! Do not be scared..apply that mist now! This is going to add some color behind where the photo and embellishments are in the end. Bits of color peeking out.

 

13 ARTS Mask and some Golden Molding paste. Just adding more layers to that background.

 

Remember those strips of paper from step one…tear those and add down the center of the page now. STAMPING TIME!!!!! Yippee…grab those favourite stamps out and lets get at it. I just love how you can add your own pattern to the paper. Look at those leaves I stamped on the two corners…love it!

 

Distress my photo with the Prima tool and mount it on some cardboard. Cutting the cardboard smaller will leave room around the edges under the photo for tucking in embellishments.

 

I go to thrift stores and buy up lace doilies…and yes I cut them up and use them on my creations. If you do not have any…tuck some lace in under your top sheet like in my corners.

 

SNACK TIME! Weeeee gotta love cheezies. Wash those hand after as you do not want orange finger prints on your creation hehe.

 

I added some May Art Trim down the center of the page.

 

This collection comes with a sheet of fun pieces to use on your creations…I tore out a couple to use.

 

Add your photo and the torn collection pieces.

 

Get out those embellishments…Petaloo flowers, Bo Bunny gems, Creative Embellishments chippys and a lovely Flying Unicorn adornment.

Add all of your embellishments with the Beacons glue..this glue is so amazing…I have stopped using a glue gun, not only did I burn myself a lot but I found that pieces fell off all the time. The Beacons glue allows you to move things around for a minute and once it dries..it is there for good.  My next step involves ShimmerzInklingz!

 

Shimmerz Inklingz…..these are little pots of shimmering transparent paint. They are hard and activated with water…add some sprays of water and let sit for a few seconds…stir it up with a paintbrush…you can add as much water as you like! I like to mix to a creamy consistency. Stir it up and flick that paintbrush on your creation to add some little drops of shimmering color! Cover up that photo so you do not get any on it J

 

Here you can see how the Shimmerz Inklingz are like molten shinning color on your page. Check them out in the store…the little pods are so inexpensive and really they will last you for months! LOVE that adornment too!
